We will be reopening our Wellbeing Centre on Wednesday 9th July 2014 to provide a day care service to the community of Hadleigh.
With spring fast approaching & hopefully some better weather on its way I would like to welcome you all to our coffee mornings which are held every Wednesday from 10 am till 12 noon here at Magdalen house. I would like to say a massive thank you to all the children from St Marys primary school choir who came along to our home last month & preformed to our residents, & on the 17th March we had a fantastic cover band called Paul Gee & the retro’s who came & preformed music from the 50’s 60’s 70’s & 80’s,our residents had a fantastic afternoon dancing singing & having plenty of fun, we’re all looking forward to having them august 9th for our 2 year open day.
On Wednesday 23rd April from 10am till 2pm we are holding a pretty chic home shopping party & would love to invite you all to this event.
A pause for thought… I would like to take this opportunity to remember a dear daughter, mother, wife, sister & friend, who sadly left us July last year, Many of you reading this would of known her, we are organising a charity event on the 5th July 2014 at the football club, Hadleigh, in order to raise money for Mind, it’s going to be a whole day & evening event, starting off with a car boot sale, cake sale, Tombola & raffle, followed by a dress auction early evening & from 9pm till late Paul Gee & the retro’s will be preforming.
If any of our local community can help in any way, or have any dresses, Tombola or raffle prizes they would like to donate, please bring them to either Magdalen house
Magdalen House would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. Following on from our Christmas Bazaar we raised £680.00 on that day for our residents’ fund. We would like to say thank you to our local shops for donating prizes for our raffle and to all our friends, family and residents for all the support on the day. We have raised £500.00 in the last few months for our mangar cushion, which means we are half way to reaching our goal.
Also I would like to thank Darrell Thomson for coming to our home in December and taking part in another reflexology session for our Rose Perry residents, which in turn was very successful. We found that reflexology reduces stress and gives our home a more calming & relaxed atmosphere. Darrell & Magdalen House are trying to arrange to buy a light therapy box. We feel this would be very beneficial to our residents. Light box therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to help treat medical conditions such as skin conditions, seasonal affective disorder and has been known to help people with dementia.
With our upcoming events we would like to arrange a 1940s dance and will asking members of the public for any ideas or memorabilia that we could use for this event. We are also asking for any donations for our home such as an old fashioned record player, radios, ornaments and anything from that era which we can use to transform our residents lounges to a more homely home.
On Thursday 23rd January we will be celebrating our annual Burn’s Evening
with Haggis, Neeps & Tatties, Clootie pudding and a little Whisky
